Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how PerchView, a service of Lake Gulf Holdings LLC (“PerchView,” “we,” “us”), collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our website and applications (the “Service”). PerchView helps people discover events, venues, and things to do in St. Petersburg, Florida and the surrounding Gulf-beach communities. Browsing the Service does not require an account.

1. Information We Collect

We collect only what we need to run the Service:

  • Account information. If you create an account, we receive your email address and, depending on how you sign in, your name and profile image. When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive basic profile information you authorize through them; we do not receive your password.
  • Content you submit. Tips you post about venues (“chirps”) and any display name you choose.
  • Limited technical data. To prevent spam and abuse of anonymous posting, we store a one-way, salted hash of your IP address. We do not store your IP address in readable form, and the hash cannot be reversed to identify you.
  • Cookies. We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and to remember display preferences. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To create and maintain your account and keep you signed in;
  • To display the chirps you post and attribute them to you;
  • To operate features like Rio’s recommendations, which may process the text of public chirps to surface relevant tips;
  • To prevent spam, abuse, and fraud, and to keep the Service secure;
  • To respond to your requests and communicate about the Service.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your personal information to train AI models.

3. Service Providers We Share With

We share information only with vendors that help us run the Service, under their own privacy and security terms:

  • Hosting & database (Vercel, Railway) — to run the application and store your account and content;
  • Sign-in providers (Google, Apple) — only if you choose to sign in with them;
  • Email delivery (Resend) — to send sign-in links if you use email sign-in;
  • AI processing (Anthropic) — to process the text of public chirps for relevance; this content is not used to train models;
  • Maps (Google Maps) — to show venue locations.

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of PerchView and its users.

4. Data Retention

We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. The salted IP hash used for spam prevention is retained only as long as needed for that purpose and is purged on a rolling basis. You can delete your account at any time (see “Your Choices” below), after which we delete your account data as described there.

5. Your Choices and Rights

  • Delete your account. You can permanently delete your account and associated personal data at any time from your account page. This removes your profile, sign-in connections, sessions, and the chirps tied to your account.
  • Access or correct your data. Email us and we will help you access or update the information associated with your account.
  • Sign out. You can sign out from your account page at any time.

6. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure session cookies, and hashing of sensitive technical identifiers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and limit what we collect.

7. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
